Along with Anthos Arts, we will be offering two weeks of drama and fun, each with their own theme to explore and culminating in a final performance for family and friends to attend.
Week One: 'Around the World in 80 Days'
A young journalist believe she may have found her first big scoop when she hears that Phileas Fogg, a mysterious gentleman with large fortune, has embarked on a mission to travel the world in eighty days. Notepad in hand, she sets off with him and his hapless assistant Passepartout.
Little do they know, there has been a robbery at the Bank of England and the prime suspect…Fogg himself! Can the trio elude the ever-persistent Inspector Fix and make it back to London in time?
Week Two: 'Treasure Island'
Life is simple for young Jim Hawkins, who helps run the family inn, until one day a rather unusual guest appears: Billy Bones. With this stranger comes a wave of mystery and Jim is suddenly thrust into an adventure across the ocean to find the long-lost treasure of notorious pirate Captain Flint.
But as Jim discovers, the seas can be an unpredictable and there are many secrets aboard their ship. Can the crew be trusted? Just who is this Long John Silver, and what exactly awaits them at the famed 'Treasure Island?'
In addition to developing acting, physical theatre and puppetry skills, children will be able to explore other, behind-the-scenes, elements which bring a show to life! Children can now discover the magic of backstage, so if you're not a fan of the spotlight but want to be part of creating a show, there's a place for everyone on this years summer holiday club. From crafting puppets and props to lights and sound; there will be plenty to get stuck into if you choose the Backstage option, and you will be taught by some of Exeter's brilliant theatre makers and get hands-on experience with:
Props & Set Design – Create and craft the pieces that bring a show to life.
Lighting & Sound – Get a taster of how tech sets the mood.
Stage Management – Learn what it takes to run a smooth show.
The Summer Holiday Club with Anthos Arts is the perfect place for creative young people who love Drama, or who want to give it a go for the first time.
