Father's Day in South Devon

Father’s day is a great excuse to get out and explore South Devon, not only are there great foot paths and beaches to be visited, but many of the attractions are putting on special events and offers. Whether you want to treat Dad, Grandad or another important father figure if your life, here are some great events happening throughout the region. 

A Bit of A Carry On, The Palace Theatre, Paignton (18th June) 

A Bit of A Carry On is a warm and uplifting journey from wartime to show time! Tyler Butterworth, son to TV impressionist Janet Brown and Carry On star Peter Butterworth, tells the funny, moving and nostalgic story of his parents. From wartime escapades and celebrity stories, the show will transport you through the golden age of British television. We’re sure that Dad (and the rest of the fam!) will enjoy this trip down memory lane! 

Bear Town Father’s Day Weekend, Bear Town, Cullompton (18th – 19th June)  

Located between Exeter and Cullompton, Bear Town is an interactive, immersive play experience that supports the early year’s foundation stage in children from walking age to 7 years old. Over Father’s Day weekend, every dad who attends will receive a special gift from Bear Town! If you’d like to attend this event, please book online to avoid disappointment. 

Father’s Day at Seaton Tramway, Seaton Tramway, Seaton (19th June) 

Seaton Tramway is a fun day out for the whole family and for Father’s Day this year, dads travel free with an accompanying child ticket on their standard service. The tram operates between Seaton, Colyford and Colyton along the stunning Axe Valley in East Devon. Seaton Tramway are also offering their excellent Driver’s Eye Experience on Father’s Day. This course is very hands-on and will give dad the chance to enjoy driving the trams! You could also treat him to a tasty Sunday roast, or a yummy cream tea at their Tramstop Café! 

Father’s Day Pasty and Pint Cruise, Stuart Line Cruises, Exmouth (19th June) 

What better way to show Dad how much he means to you than spending some quality time out on the water with two of the things Devon does best – pasties and pints! Stuart Line Cruises are offering award winning Chunk pasties (either the ultimate steak, or tasty veggie pasty) with a choice of beer, cider or even a glass of wine with their tickets on 19th June. We’re sure that the whole family will enjoy a day spent sailing along the beautiful River Exe! 

Father’s Day Welly Wanging, World of Country Life, Exmouth (19th June) 

World of Country Life’s Welly Wanging is back! It’s the annual competition to see how far you can throw a wellington boot! All the usual daily activities like ferret racing, goat walking and bottle feeding will also be happening so there’s lots to keep dad and the kids entertained! World of Country Life is located in Exmouth and surrounded by beautiful Devonshire countryside; it’s a truly wonderful place to make a lifetime worth of memories together! 

ABBA Forever, The Palace Theatre, Paignton (19th June) 

If Dad is an ABBA fan, we certainly have the perfect event for you! Coming to The Palace Theatre in Paignton, ABBA Forever is a night filled with incredible tributes to one of the world’s greatest pop bands! Using a six-piece band featuring electric and acoustic guitars, keyboards, pianos, drums and bass, the unique and iconic ABBA sound will be replicated with dynamic choreography and stunning visuals. It’ll make you want to jump out of your seats and join in! 

If you’re looking for something else, there are plenty of other exciting things to do in South Devon. You could visit one of our many stunning beaches for the day, explore the beautiful tors or reservoirs of Dartmoor National Park or enjoy a leisurely bike ride through Haldon Forest. If Dad enjoys keeping active, perhaps take him kayaking with Sea Kayak Devon or embark on a Segway experience through Cann Woods!
