Welcome to The Cridford Inn possibly Devon’s oldest and certainly most charming Inn!
Dating back to 825 AD, The Cridford Inn is a charming 1,000 year old Devon longhouse that has kept its character, retaining many of the original features without compromising on modernity, this delightful free-house is family run by Paul and Ness with Barney heading up the kitchen.
The extensive menu is available in both the bar and the restaurant and is made up of the best locally sourced ingredients from the west country and lovingly prepared in our kitchen by our team of passionate, talented chefs. Many of our dishes are created using produce from within just a few miles of the inn and really take advantage of the wonderful crops grown in and around the Dartmoor National Park and the surrounding region of South Devon. The meat is reared by local farmers and our fish dishes contain the freshest of sea food right from the coast, these are perfectly complimented with seasonal vegetables and salads.
Our menus also cater for vegans, vegetarians and those following a gluten free diet so the whole family and groups of friends can enjoy meals together with us. As everything is hand prepared, you can easily ask for your meal exactly how you want it and we can ensure a dinner free from allergens. Aside from our main menu, we also offer themed menus including Pie and a Pint and our regular Grill Night and our Sunday Roasts are becoming a thing of legend in the Teign Valley. Served every Sunday from midday, our roasts are a must-have if you are visiting the south west, we recommend booking as we often sell out! Our Sunday Roasts are created entirely from locally sourced producers and truly give you a real taste of the west country.
Compliment your meal with a locally brewed drink including ales, ciders, wines, gins and more. We have a range of well-kept local Ales, interesting wines and an extensive menu of spirits, including 80 different gins which make relaxing in our dog-friendly bar with log burning fires a pleasure. The extensive menu is available in both the bar and the restaurant area and is available to those staying at the inn and guests just wanting to dine with us.
With its low ceilings, a floor with a mural dating back to 1081 AD and many other historical and interesting features, the restaurant never disappoints.
The Cridford Inn is in the tranquil village of Trusham in the Teign Valley just twenty minutes from the centre of Exeter and close to the blue-flag award winning beaches of the English Riviera. The inn is right on the edge of the beautiful Dartmoor National Park giving you far reaching views across the landscape and plenty of places to explore before settling in for a hearty meal.
With the well-stocked bar and great beer, tasty food and an extensive gin list combined with the historical atmosphere and the beautiful surroundings - there is nowhere more interesting to dine!
As a team we have carried out a full risk assessment with the new focus of keeping that virus out of our Inn restricting the chances of any infection passing to anyone while keeping all the charm and atmosphere that makes The Cridford Inn our customers favourite place to eat, drink and socialise.
We have new processes and systems in place to ensure that your table, cutlery, crockery, glasses, salt and pepper pots, in fact, everything is sanitised before you use it. From the sanitary conditions of the kitchen and the bar right through to bringing it to your table has been designed to prevent any contamination.
We take all our health and safety really seriously. We will make sure we play our part in keeping us all safe. When you visit please pay attention to the staff who will guide you and the signs that are there to help us all do our bit.
