The Reverend Sabine Baring-Gould
(1834 Exeter-1903 Lewtrenchard Manor his estate in West Devon),
an exceptional Devon parson and squire, probably best remembered as the composer of the hymns 'Onward Christian Soldiers' and "Now the Day is Over" a prolific collector of folk songs and writer of novels.
Listen and perhaps join in to some of the songs he collected from 1888-1903 and learn about the Song Men he collected them from.
