Devon General Remembered

On Sunday 5th September 2021 the buses of yesteryear will take to the roads in and around Tiverton, recalling the Devon General services of the 1960s.
A dozen preserved buses – many in authentic Devon General livery – will offer free rides from Tiverton bus station between 10am and 4pm.
As well as running routes around the town, the buses will take in villages such as Bampton, Sampford Peverell, Thorverton and Witheridge. Local open-top bus trips will also be available.
Feeder buses will run from Exeter and Tiverton Parkway Station at the start and end of the day.
The event is organised by the Devon General Society, whose 200 members celebrate the fascinating history of a bus company that many local people recall with fondness.
A souvenir programme giving details of the routes and the buses running on them will be available on the day, or in advance by post from the DGS Sales Officer, 14 Wrey Avenue, Barnstaple EX31 2EB, price £4 post free.
