This Summer, WCP Theatre Company are pleased to bring to the Plymouth stage the hilarious play on which the hit film Florence Foster Jenkins (starring Meryl Streep and Hugh Grant) was based.
In 1940s New York the biggest draw was aged, self proclaimed 'Diva' Florence Foster Jenkins who sold out concert halls despite the slight disadvantage of being unable to sing a note.
Most of her audience came to poke fun, but that didn't bother Florence and her equally eccentric friends as they were living their dream- culminating in a sell out performance at the prestigious Carnegie Hall- and abiding by the adage that just because you can't sing- needn't mean you won't sing!
This fascinating true story gloriously blends history, humour and heart warming pathos in perfect harmony.
