Hope Cove is made up of two sandy beaches in the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), near Salcombe, South Devon.
Mouthwell Sands to the north is the nearest beach to the car park. The longer Harbour beach sits just to its south. The two are easily accessible and it’s worth exploring them both if time permits.
With seasonal lifeguards and water quality designated as excellent, Hope Cove’s beaches are great for families to visit. The mix of sand and rocky areas means that Mouthwell Sands in particular is great for sandcastles and sunbathing as well as exploring the rockpools. There are lifeguards on duty during the summer months too.
The fantastic beaches and the proximity of the village make either of the Hope Cove beaches an ideal destination for (at least) a full day out.
Hope Cove has also recently been the location for the BBC drama The Coroner
Dogs are allowed on the bigger village beach all year but must be kept on leads. There is a seasonal dog ban during the day on the other beach (Mouthwell) (May to Sept)
