Back by popular demand – Home Educator Day!
We're thrilled to announce a new date, with an important theme to match – Conservation and Endangered animals.
Tuesday 10th February 2026
Are you ready to learn more about endangered animals and arm yourself with the knowledge of how you can support conservation from your home? This day is dedicated to endangered species and learning more about the role of the modern zoo through our workshop, drop-in activities and talks.
There are 3, 45-minute workshops available called – Endangered animals and the role of the modern zoo
This workshop will include a deeper look at the key problems impacting and endangering animals in the wild. Together, we will also explore the three main aims of a modern zoo and discuss how zoos have changed over time, before reflecting on what conservation looks like in a zoo and importantly, what you can do to help!
These workshops are free and can be added to your basket at checkout (spaces are limited so we recommend booking in advance)! They will be held in our Jaguar Suite at 11, 12 (guidance for Primary level) and 1 (guidance for Secondary level).
Please note:
Each workshop is the same but tailored to the age group, so please only book one workshop for your group unless you have children of both primary and secondary ages.
When booking the optional workshop, please book the number of spaces you require for your entire group (including adults). If you are bringing multiple adults, where possible, please consider whether all need to attend the session to allow the majority of spaces to remain for children to attend. On the day, we will only allow entry to the number of people booked for your group.
Our Home Educator Days are designed to welcome home educated children and their families to come and explore the zoo for just £16 (one adult and one child – including one day admission).
With a different theme running each session. The days are designed to offer flexibility and freedom with talks and activities running across the site, or why not book onto one of our educator-led workshops to take an interactive dive into the topic.
Terms and conditions
We are not able to accept annual passes for educational visits. Our home educator days fall under this. Entry is heavily discounted and includes access to workshops and a bespoke programme of activities exclusively for home educating families visiting on the day.
One £16 entry rate is available per booking. Any additional members of the group will need to be booked on the accompanying adult and children rates. This includes one day admission and is not inclusive of our annual pass. Pre-booking is essential for the event to get the special £16 rate.
This special discounted price is only available on Home Educator days and cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer.
Please meet outside the restaurant 5 minutes before the start of your workshop time.
Children must be accompanied by an adult when attending the workshop.
The behaviour of children is the responsibility of the accompanying adults. There will be points throughout the workshop when it will be possible to leave the room if necessary.
Strict start times apply and no entry will be permitted for late arrival to the workshops.
Guidance: 11 and 12 workshops are recommended for a primary age group and our 1 workshop is recommended for a secondary age group.
