Home Educator Day: Careers in Zoos!
Join us for a special Home Educator Day designed for secondary-age children who are curious about the many different careers that make a zoo tick. From animal care to visitor experience, this inspiring day will help young people explore future pathways, meet professionals working across the zoo, and discover the wide range of skills and qualifications that support a modern zoo.
What to expect
Welcome talks at 10.45am and 11.15am introducing the day and the range of careers available in a zoo.
Meet visiting local colleges and find out more about the courses and qualifications that can lead to exciting careers in the zoo and tourism industry.
Hear directly from zoo staff in two panel discussions featuring team members from maintenance, catering, marketing, and the keeper team.
Sign up on the day for behind-the-scenes opportunities and get an even closer look at how different departments work together.
Chat to other members of staff around the site about their roles, responsibilities, and career journeys.
Enjoy all the usual talks and activities that make our regular Home Educator Days so popular.
Whether your child is already passionate about animals or just beginning to think about their future, this is a fantastic opportunity to explore the world of zoo careers in an engaging, practical setting. Come along, ask questions, make connections, and be inspired.
Terms and conditions
We are not able to accept annual passes for educational visits. Our home educator days fall under this. Entry is heavily discounted and includes access to a bespoke programme of activities exclusively for home educating families visiting on the day.
One £16 entry rate is available per booking. Any additional members of the group will need to be booked on the accompanying adult and children rates. This includes one day admission and is not inclusive of our annual pass. Pre-booking is essential for the event to get the special £16 rate.
This special discounted price is only available on Home Educator days and cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer.
Behind the scenes and mini-workshop sessions will be available to sign up to on the day. Parents must accompany children to the start of these sessions. With limited space in some locations, parents may then be asked to wait in a nearby location while the session is delivered.
Recommended age for this day is 12+
