Opening Times

Pirates Weekend Plymouth (9 May 2020 - 10 May 2020)

Hop aboard the two tall ships that will be docked in Sutton Harbour and imagine you’re sailing the high seas. Back on dry land, you can meet Plymouth’s very own Captain Jack Sparrow, Jonty Depp, and his evil adversary Captain Barbosa, or settle down for story-time with Melody the mermaid.

To keep everyone entertained, sea shanty bands will fill the streets with song while puppeteers captivate adults and children alike, and younger children can let off steam in the Giant Octopus soft play activity centre. The ‘Best Dressed Pirate’ competition will also be returning, so get your eyepatches and Jolly Rogers at the ready.

For those who have a sense of adventure to take to the high seas, land lubbers can join the Mount Batten Pirates on a 30 minute Powerboat Experience and see the Hoe, Drakes Island and Plymouth Sound (pre-booking essential). For prices and further details, click here to book your power boat experience.

During the weekend, the Sutton Harbour Ferry will be taken over by Pirates and any children dressed as pirates can ride the Pirate Ferry for free!

Plymouth & Devon Schools Sailing Association, will be hosting raft building and introductory sessions in sailing at Commercial Wharf slipway. Turn up and have a go. Sessions start every hour (first session starts at 10am, last session at 3pm). Free of charge.

Why not hop on the boat and visit the National Marine Aquarium? Once inside grab a treasure map and help Black Beard find his missing crew who have disappeared around the Aquarium. Be sure to chat to their crew mates about the amazing animals you can find on your journey.

The Aquarium will also be holding beach cleans during Pirates Weekend:

12 May, 9.30 – 11.30am, Teats Hill Beach. Who knows, you may even find some buried treasure...

13 May, 9.30 – 11.30am, Bantham Beach. Join for a morning of ocean conservation!
