CEILIDH WITH THE RED ROCK CEILIDH BAND
This is not your average Ceilidh Band!
Twenty or so years ago two bands came together for a camping holiday on the River Teign. Some of us are members of the Cambridge University Ceilidh Band, and some are members of the SOAS Ceilidh Band which operates out of the School of Oriental and African Studies in London. The band was set up by Ed Emery, an ethnomusicologist who can sometimes be found boating up and down the Teign. You may remember him fiddling for the runners at last year's Mud Race.
Every August we get together at Red Rock for a night of fun and revelry! This year we are delighted that we have been invited to play at the Village Hall in Combeinteignhead.
The plan is that there will be a bunch of dances, all of which will be explained by our caller. No experience is necessary. All very simple, and suitable for all ages. You might also get a song or two. Plus there's time to do your own thing, or sit and have a drink and a chat, and listen to the music.
In addition to our regular musicians (fiddles, flutes, guitar, bodhran etc) we have a special guest. Peyman Heydarian is from Iran (from where he has recently returned), and he is a world-class performer on the santur (a hammered dulcimer). During the course of the evening he will be playing solo pieces. Something not to be missed!

We look forward to seeing you on the night.
