Conveniently located between Exeter and Plymouth, just off the A38, the Buckfast Abbey Conference Centre has recently undergone an extensive renovation, including the addition of a new mezzanine floor and terrace in the Schiller Hall, offering stunning views of the River Dart, Abbey Church, and surrounding gardens.
The Conference Centre can accommodate up to 200 delegates and is perfect for dinners, awards, or special events with its new kitchen and catering facilities, extended cloakrooms, and service accommodation. The central atrium area has a raised roof to allow natural light to flood in, complementing the meeting rooms on the first floor. All rooms are equipped with the latest audiovisual equipment for training, presentations, or business events. Most of the rooms overlook the beautifully maintained gardens around the Abbey.
The Conference Centre is renowned for its quality food, with chefs preparing and cooking all food daily, including freshly baked biscuits for breaks. Free parking and equipment such as flip charts, pens, paper, large screens, Wi-Fi, and audio facilities are provided in all rooms.
On-site accommodation options include the 33-bedroom Northgate House Hotel or group accommodation at Grangehurst House for residential conferences and events.
Buckfast Abbey, located in a picturesque valley on the edge of Dartmoor National Park, is home to a community of Roman Catholic Benedictine Monks who live according to the ancient rule of St Benedict, with a focus on prayer, work, and study. The Abbey was originally founded in 1018 AD by King Cnut and was rebuilt stone by stone upon its medieval foundations by a group of French monks after the dissolution of the monasteries under King Henry VIII in 1538. Today, Buckfast Abbey is a thriving complex of buildings that serve as a national center of witness to God and the Roman Catholic faith. The monks welcome hundreds of thousands of visitors each year and offer amenities such as beautiful gardens, a restaurant, shop, exhibition, pizzeria, and guest accommodation.
