Sorry, this event has passed

To celebrate the 800th year since Bovey Tracey was first granted its charter for a market, we will be holding a special market held in 3 different locations thoughout the town. This is being organised on behlaf of the recently formed Business For Bovey Association.

FREE CHILDRENS & FAMILY ACTIVITIES FOR HALF TERM.
There will be a quiz using old photos of the town. Can you work out which shop was which?
Also Escape The Game are organising a free numbers puzzle where you will need to find the numbers in the shops and other places to solve the game. Those who get it right will win a £5 voucher for Bovey Tracey's very own Escape Rooms.

We will have stalls of all kinds set up in the Dartmoor Whisky Distillery, in the centre of town outside The Cromwell Arms and in the Methodist Church at the bottom of town.
There will also be various items throughout the town with heritage information.

There were perhaps about 20 places in Devon where markets were customarily held in 1200; by 1350, a further 91 market grants had been made. Bovey Tracey was at the forefront of this development, a charter being granted to Eva de Tracey, lady of the manor, on 23 October 1219, giving her the right to hold a market on the manor every Thursday. This means that Bovey Tracey – which was not yet a borough - was among the first 10 places in Devon to receive such a charter during this upsurge of market grants.

If you are interested in having a stall, please email hayley@myriadservices.co.uk to request a booking form.
