Best Friends Forever Trail

Did you know that it is common for donkeys to bond and form lifelong friendships?

Discover which of The Donkey Sanctuary's donkeys are best buddies and for extra points, see if you can spot them together or even playing together with the Best Friends Forever Trail. Trail sheets will be available from the new Visitor Centre for just £3, which includes a prize on completion.

As well as donkey best friends, there are hundreds more cared for in Sidmouth all waiting to meet you - so enjoy a winter walk around the whole of sanctuary where you can meet all of their friendly residents.

There is also the new interactive exhibits to explore in the Exhibition Barn, where you will discover how The Donkey Sanctuary works to improve the welfare of donkeys and mules around the world and the communities that rely on them. Visitors can take a trip back in time and explore the history of donkeys and the origins of The Donkey Sanctuary itself. Learn fascinating donkey facts, see what goes on behind the scenes at the donkey hospital and find out how donkeys become teachers when they interact with humans.

When it's time to take a break, relax in their stunning new family-friendly restaurant, The Kitchen, where you can enjoy high-quality locally sourced food, including hearty breakfasts, delicious lunches and tempting afternoon treats, served daily between 9am – 4pm. And don't forget to visit the brand new Gift Shop for quality gifts and souvenirs before heading home.

Entry and parking at the sanctuary is FREE. Dogs on leads are welcome.
