Corde Cuore - Heartstrings

A concert of Italian and Spanish songs from the Romantic period for soprano and classical guitar performed by Dartmoor based Peruvian-Italian coloratura soprano Claudia Alvarez Calderon and local guitar virtuoso Stephen Yates.
The programme will include two song cycles by Mauro Giuliani, a friend of Gioacchino Rossini, whose influence can be heard. These pieces take the listener on an emotional journey with operatic intensity accompanied by the delicate sound of the guitar.
The second composer featured is the Spanish Fernando Sor with three short "seguidillas" and the humorous song "Las Quejas de Maruja", or "Maruja's complaints". Stephen also performs two solo pieces including the crowd pleaser 'Asturias'.
Stephen and Claudia released their first album containing this programme in January 2018 and have had great success performing it across Devon to audiences of all ages.
The songs will be performed in Spanish and Italian and a programme with the translation of the lyrics will be provided to the audience.
