We are opening up our popular educational Snooze at the Zoo programme to the home educating community! Are you prepared for a sleepover like nothing you have ever experienced before, all combined with a jam-packed itinerary of learning and activities?
Take part in workshops on enrichment making and endangered animals.
Watch some of our animals getting fed and enjoying the enrichment we make.
Camp on the zoo grounds surrounded by our amazing residents and find out what they get up to between dusk and dawn.
Get a chance to see all those secretive nocturnal animals in our after dark tour.
Imagine falling asleep under the stars in the depths of Dartmoor, away from civilisation for the evening, surrounded by exotic animals and waking up to the sound of our African Lioness, Kimya roaring!
The day activities will run from 10am on Wednesday 10th, with a drop-in session during the morning to allow those travelling from further away to arrive. The main event will then start from 1pm with a full afternoon of activities through to 4.30pm, when you will get time to set up your camping area and enjoy some downtime after the zoo has closed to general visitors. After a delicious BBQ, the evening activities will commence with our Dartmoor Zoo trail challenge, hot chocolate and marshmallows around the campfire (weather dependent) and an after dark tour. After a well-earned sleep, the day will begin with a breakfast buffet followed by some morning mindfulness and games to take in the quiet of the zoo pre-opening. Admission to the zoo for the Thursday is also included so feel free to stay on site and enjoy an extra day of exploration.
You will also receive a Snooze at the Zoo t-shirt as a souvenir of the experience.
Please note, tents and sleeping equipment are not provided.
