Six musicians from the UK, Portugal and Morocco bring their individual styles and influences to form the Meridianum Ensemble. Inspired by traditions from Iran and the Eastern Mediterranean to Portugal, Scandinavia and beyond, their modal music, improvisation and virtuosity create a gloriously entrancing infusion. The blend is a sonic and visual treat, featuring Arabic oud, Middle Eastern percussion, cittern, Persian Santur, Swedish nyckelharpa and the mediaeval sounds of the hurdy-gurdy. The musicians are Louis Bingham: cittern, tamboura Steve Tyler: hurdy-gurdy, Ricardo de Noronha: percussions, Soufian Saihi: oud, Griselda Sanderson, violin and nyckelharpa, Nuno Silva: Persian santur
