Plot

King Magnus is dead, and the kingdom is ready to celebrate. Tonight, his son Erik will be crowned king and wed to his betrothed, Astrid the Fair, in a feast worthy of the gods themselves. But not everyone in the great hall is convinced the old king met his end naturally. As mead flows and celebrations begin, old rivalries simmer beneath the surface. Frida, the king's overlooked daughter, grows tired of watching her brother inherit everything she believes should be hers. Astrid is determined to win over her new people, despite the scheming and intrigue surrounding her. Meanwhile, a mysterious goat keeper has appeared from nowhere, asking far too many questions for a man supposedly concerned with livestock. When accusations fly and tempers flare, it falls to Helga the Law Speaker to keep order. Yet before the night is over, another Viking will make their final journey to Valhalla.
