A Historical Association and University of Plymouth history department talk.

For this year's Christopher Durston Memorial Lecture, we invite you to a fascinating evening with Professor Andrew Hopper, University of Leicester. Andrew is an expert in religion, politics and local identities in early modern England, and the Principal Investigator for the Civil War Petitions, a project that examines how veterans of the British Civil Wars of the 1640s and their families sought welfare payments for the injuries and bereavements they suffered. This talk will focus on how people from Devon sought compensation and pensions for their suffering and injuries in the years following conflict.
