Each year there are lots of Christmas events in South Devon for you to choose from, whether you like joining in at a pantomime, heading to a nearby town to watch the Christmas lights switch on event or perhaps want to get involved in something a little more unusual, whatever way you like to celebrate Christmas, South Devon has a seasonal event for you. Light Switch On Events

Christmas Lights Switch On, Sidmouth (17th November)

Make your way to the gorgeous coastal resort of Sidmouth to see the town’s champion cricket team switch on the Christmas lights at 5:30pm. Please click here to discover more about the Christmas Light Switch On.

Exeter Christmas Lights Switch On (18th November)

A full day of festivities on Exeter’s high street with family friendly activities and live music followed by the spectacular lights switch on at 5pm. For more details about Exeter Christmas Lights Switch On, please click here.

Teignmouth Christmas Lights Switch On (24th November)

The festive activities will begin from 10am with a Christmas market and farmers market; there will be plenty of entertainment including live music from bands and choirs. To find out more about Teignmouth Christmas Lights Switch On, please click here.

Christmas Lights Switch On, Newton Abbot (24th November)

There’s daytime street entertainment in Newton Abbot and a procession from the Town Hall at 5pm. The lights switch on will be at 5:30pm and afterwards a firework finale will take place from St Leonards Clock Tower. Further information about the Christmas Lights Switch On is available here.

Cullompton Christmas Festival (24th November)

A wonderful Christmas festival from 10am until 5pm in Cullompton with a market, grotto, workshops and more. The lights switch on will be at 4:30pm. To find out more about Cullompton Christmas Festival, please click here.

Street/Town Events

Candlelit Dartmouth (30th November – 1st December)

Dartmouth will come alive with Christmas over the two days with street entertainment, a lantern parade, market and lots more! 4pm until 8pm on the Friday and 10am until 8pm on the Saturday. More details about Candlelit Dartmouth are available here.

Kingsbridge Celebrates Christmas (1st December)

Start your Christmas shopping with a bang and head to Kingsbridge for this one day Christmas event featuring the Farmers Market, live entertainment and Father Christmas. Further information about Kingsbridge Celebrates Christmas can be found here.

Victorian Evening (5th December)

Step back in time in Newton Abbot for a Victorian themed evening with stalls, street entertainment and of course Christmas music, from 6:30pm until 8:30pm. Please click here to find out more about the Victorian Evening

Family Friendly

Coleton Aglow (30th November – 2nd December, 7th – 9th, 14th – 16th, 19th – 24th & 27th – 31st December)

Christmas at Cockington Court (1st, 2nd, 8th, 9th, 15th & 16th December)

Christmas at the Model Village (8th, 9th, 15th – 24th December, 26th December – 1st January)

Carols by Candlelight (14th December)

Make your way to The Donkey Sanctuary in Sidmouth for a magical evening of festive music and adorable donkeys. The event is free to attend and will be open from 3pm onwards. Find out more about Carols by Candlelight here.

Seaton Wetlands Snowman Trail (15th December – 6th January)

Mince Pie Specials at South Devon Railway (27th December – 1st January)

Phoenix Chorale – In the Moon of Winter (1st December)

Aladdin Pantomime (2nd, 9th & 16th December)

Head to Abbey Sands Hotel in Torquay for a fantastic pantomime, two course meal and visit from Santa! Adult tickets are £20 and child tickets are £15, arrival at 12pm and children also receive a selection box. Find out more about the Aladdin Pantomime here.

Nutcracker – ROH Live to Screen (3rd December)

Humbug! (12th – 15th & 20th – 24th December)

Joy to the World (15th December)

Christmas Parties at Exeter Racecourse (8th, 14th & 15th December)
