Situated on the world-famous Jurassic Coast in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, The Donkey Sanctuary’s idyllic location lends itself beautifully to a relaxed and tranquil wedding ceremony among 260 acres of rolling East Devon countryside.

This spectacular location together with the friendly resident donkeys, mean your special day will truly be like no other and provide lasting memories for you and your wedding guests. By choosing The Donkey Sanctuary for your wedding ceremony, you are also kindly supporting charity's work; helping donkeys and mules around the world, and the people who depend upon them.

The venue

The Stables is where a small group of donkeys live together in peace and harmony, and where you’ll begin married life should you choose The Donkey Sanctuary for your wedding ceremony.

Licensed for up to 70 guests and available for a select number of wedding ceremonies from May - September, the Donkey Barn is elegantly transformed while retaining its original rustic charm, allowing you to fully enjoy the serenity of the sanctuary on your special day.

The expert team will tastefully dress the Barn with a handpicked selection of quality, country-chic decorations, while your donkey guests remaining in the backgroun adding that extra special touch to the proceedings.

Once you’ve completed the all-important I-dos, continue the celebrations by spilling out onto the donkey yard overlooking the sanctuary, mingling with your guests and donkeys.

The sanctuary is also dog-friendly, so your fur-friends are welcome to be part of your day – after all they are an important part of your family and shouldn’t miss out.

Picture-perfect

The rustic barn and the sanctuary grounds provide a stunning backdrop for photos, with extensive opportunities including the well-maintained gardens, sea views, woodland, the main house and even a life-size bronze donkey.  Your wedding album will certainly be full of unique and beautiful images to treasure for years to come – after all, who else has photos with donkeys in the background!

Ready to plan your day to remember?
