Enjoy February Half Term in South Devon

If you’re visiting South Devon during February Half Term this year, then you will not be disappointed! Throughout the region there are plenty of fantastic events happening to keep the kiddies entertained no matter what the weather is; from nature themed events to help your little ones learn about wildlife and the environment to exciting exhibitions and workshops, you’re sure to find something fun to do during your stay. Wildlife Photographer of the Year at Seaton Tramway (19th February – 27th February) 

Over half term, the iconic Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition, on loan from the Natural History Museum in London, will be on display at Seaton Tramway. The exhibition features incredible images that your little ones will find fascinating. Tickets are only £5 for adults and under 16-year-olds can visit for free. You’ll also receive 20% off your tram ride if you buy a joint ticket. 

Family Fun Day at Exeter Racecourse (25th February) 

What better way to spend the Friday of Half Term than at Exeter Racecourse for their Family Fun Day with a Superhero twist? On the 25th February, alongside competitive racing, they’ll have bouncy castles, climbing walls, face painters and the chance to meet and greet a Superhero!  

Adoption Donkey Top Trums Trail at The Donkey Sanctuary (19th February – 27th February) 

If your youngsters love adventure and animals, then why not take them to explore the Adoption Donkey Top Trums Trail at The Donkey Sanctuary. Simply follow the trail to find the giant Top Trumps cards located around the sanctuary and reveal which adoption donkey comes out on top in each round. Once you have completed all eight rounds, head to the Gift Shop to collect your prize. The trail costs just £5 to enter, and admission to The Donkey Sanctuary is free. 

Super Slam Wrestling at Crealy Theme Park and Resort (19th February – 27th February) 

Taking place in the Crealy Arena with three shows a day to choose from, Super Slam Wrestling features professional wrestlers direct from the USA. These performances will run from Saturday 19th February – Sunday 27th February and are included in your ticket price.  

Pennywell Farm (19th February – 27th February) 

Take your little ones to get up close and personal with an array of cute farm animals at Pennywell Farm in Buckfastleigh. Meet all the spring babies, visit the miniature ponies and donkeys or watch the ferrets race! Pennywell Farm is open 7 days a week from 19th February. 

Children’s Workshops at The Flavel Art Centre (21st February and 23rd February) 

The Flavel Art Centre in Dartmouth are hosting an array of exciting children’s workshops and events this half term! Their Hoop and Silks Workshop will teach your children to dance and fly like a circus artist and is suitable for all levels of fitness. If your little ones are into arts and crafts, why not sign them up to the Pom Pom Wreath Workshop! The Flavel Arts Centre also has a range of children’s cinema screenings throughout the week. 

February Half Term on the South Devon Railway (19th February – 27th February) 

Taking your kiddies on a steam train can be such an adventure! Enjoy the glorious scenery whilst travelling on the South Devon Railway, from the 19th – 27th February. South Devon Railway will be operating steam trains between Buckfastleigh and what is usually the mid-way point on the line, Staverton, with a vintage rail replacement bus operating between Staverton and Totnes Town and Mainline Station. 

Guided Birdwatching Cruises with Stuart Line Cruise (19th February – 27th February) 

Why not take your little ones on a Guided Birdwatching Cruise to see some of the of birds that migrate to the River Exe during the winter months? The cruises have full commentary throughout from ornithologists Ian Waite, Dave Smallshire and Derek Carter. The whole family will discover and learn all about the species, habitat and behaviours of the thousands of birds on the Exe Estuary and the East Devon Coast!  

The Three Billy Goats Gruff at the Palace Theatre (23rd February) 

Lost the Plot Theatrical returns to the Palace Theatre in Paignton to present The Three Billy Goats Gruff. This family-friendly interactive show is the perfect half-term event for your little ones!  

Paignton Zoo (19th February – 27th February) 

Your youngsters will be amazed by the many different animals, spread across 80 acres of beautiful, spacious grounds at Paignton Zoo! Meet and learn about all your favourite species, big and small, including gorillas, giraffes, lions, tigers, crocodiles, flamingos and more! Paignton Zoo is one of the South West’s most exciting visitor attractions and will be enjoyed by the whole family. 

Superworm Trails at Haldon Forest (19th February – 27th February) 

At Haldon Forest, you can fully emerge yourself in immense woodland and escape the everyday. In late 2021 they opened their Superworm Trail, a new self-led walk featuring brightly illustrated panels and a trail-pack full of fun activities, including your very own mask! Haldon Forest is only a short, 15-minute drive away from Exeter.  

The Paint Hub (19th February – 27th February) 

Located at Welcome Family Holiday Park in Dawlish Warren, The Paint Hub is a pottery painting café where you can customise your own piece of pottery which you can take home to use! Pottery painting is a fun, relaxed way to tap into your creative side for anyone of any age.
