Mickeys Beach - This is the place where we can all put aside our everyday cares and just let our hair down and have fun. If life is truly a beach, then Mickeys is the place to come for all-day coffee, drinks and casual foods, sundowners on a summer’s evening, stylish yet always informal après beach dining, music at Mickeys Beats, drinks and cocktails, take-out meals to eat with your fingers and with your feet in the sand, or maybe a Mickeys pizza after working up an appetite on the dance floor.
On warm evenings, the terrace roof fully retracts for you to enjoy the most beautiful sunsets over the Exe and Lyme Bay; but at those times when rain and wind batter our southwest coast, making us feel that the full might of the Atlantic is hitting our shores directly, then we can snuggle up and enjoy the drama of the view from behind weatherproof panoramic windows, inside in dry comfort and warmth.
And what a view, looking down the coast past Torquay to Berry Head and the wide open English Channel. There is no better position from which to enjoy the beauty of our southwest coast, a view often punctuated by the colourful dance of dozens of kite surfers in the sea directly before us, for this small patch of beach has become a centre for world champion kiters from Exmouth and beyond.
We are more than a restaurant and bar, Mickeys Beach is a state of mind. Michael Caines dreamed of creating somewhere special where we could all rediscover the social joy of dining by the sea in beautiful, informal surroundings, enjoying fabulous and fun food or maybe just settling in for just a drink or a cocktail and some delicious nibbles.
Mickeys Beach is a central part of Exmouth’s exciting and brand new Sideshore development. When it was decided to give Exmouth’s seafront a total regeneration, even moving the beachside road to accommodate a new development that encompasses a world class watersports centre, it was always envisaged that the best local food and drink should also be a key element. With Michelin-star chef Michael Caines already just up the road at his luxurious and acclaimed Lympstone Manor, it was a perfect opportunity for one of the best-known chefs in the UK to be join in and be part of the fun.
Mickeys Beach reveals Michael’s playful and even wicked side. This is the place where you can let your hair down, party and have fun. While Michael’s acclaimed cuisine at Lympstone Manor wins awards and rave reviews, the food at Mickeys Beach may be less formal in style and service but it is by no means any less delicious and appealing. Everything that Michael puts his name to is quality, whether it’s a Mickeys Beach burger, a pizza, or the freshest fish straight from the Exmouth docks, cooked expertly over charcoal.
